Automotive Tire Service

Tire Safety Starts with Trained Technicians!

TIA offers a variety of training for new hires, as well as experienced tire technicians. Our ATS programs cover all aspects of passenger/light truck tire service and can be delivered online or in person, with hands-on instruction.

Keep your techs safe, customers happy and better your business with TIA’s Automotive Tire Service Training.

Available through the TIA Online University, Intro to ATS is designed for non-technicians in the passenger and light truck tire industry who need an orientation to the service procedures for all types of automotive tire and wheel assemblies. By staying focused on what steps and guidelines are necessary for passenger and light truck tire service without going into the step-by-step detail, students will have a better understanding of how decisions made at the point of sale impact the service process.

Intro to ATS creates the link between sales and service simply because the recommendations made to the customer at the counter are consistent with best practices and industry guidelines in the shop. The course also includes a sales module that addresses the basic principles for selling tires and includes helpful tips to improve the overall customer service experience.

Intro to ATS consists of the following Modules:

  1. Passenger and Light Truck Tires
  2. Passenger and Light Truck Rims, Wheels & Hubs
  3. Passenger and Light Truck Tire Service
  4. TPMS
  5. Sales

Passenger and light truck tire dealers must be aware that the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) recently determined that C-Type light truck tires are covered by OSHA regulation 29 CFR 1910.177. The letter from OSHA and TIA’s response reflect the minimum steps that automotive tire service providers should take to comply with the OSHA interpretation. Retailers can also use the OSHA Tire Inflation Skills Demonstration form to assist with training requirements contained in 1910.177.
