TIA Adds Virtual Earthmover Tire Service Training

  • Release Date: January 07, 2021

BOWIE, Md. – Off-the-road tire service personnel wanting to take the Tire Industry Association’s (TIA) 200-Level Basic Earthmover Tire Service (ETS) training can now do so virtually.

Offered in English and Spanish, the new virtual Basic ETS training program will be held March 9-10 (English) and March 16-17 (Spanish) via Zoom video conference technology. These “live” training classes will be led by a TIA staff instructor and feature videos and images from the Basic ETS program. As with the in-person TIA training, students will be able to ask questions of the instructor during the class.

Virtual Basic ETS is a three-part class conducted over a day-and-a half, with each session covering three hours. The first day will consist of two sessions from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Day two will feature one session from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Designed for OTR tire technicians, Basic ETS training outlines the minimum skills and safety guidelines for servicing one-piece, three-piece, five-piece and double-gutter OTR tire assemblies. The program includes a three-hour video featuring 15 modules that cover the basic safety guidelines for servicing OTR tires, wheels and rims in the field.

The video is accompanied by a 200+ page workbook that features hundreds of four-color photos to outline the step-by-step procedures and various industry resources. Students who successfully complete the final exam will receive a TIA Certificate of Completion.

“We are excited to add this virtual class to our in-person ETS training programs,” said Kevin Rohlwing, TIA senior vice president of training. “This new course addition allows OTR tire personnel the option of taking the class and not having to travel, which has become so important during the past year.”
