Bowie, Md. - At its biannual Board of Directors meeting held June 18-20, 2014, the Tire Industry Association (TIA) elected Tom Formanek as its new board secretary. He will begin his one-year term as secretary on November 3, 2014. After that year, he will proceed as vice president, then president, then past president; all of these positions are for one-year terms.
Mr. Formanek has over 27 years in the tire service industry. He is currently Regional Sales Manager for Stellar Industries corporate based out of Garner, Iowa. Stellar Industries is a manufacturer of a complete line of tire service trucks for the commercial tire service industry. He has served on the TIA board since 1993 as part of the NTDRA, TANA and now TIA. He is a past supplier group chairman of the NTDRA. Formanek has held the position of TIA treasurer for the past six years and has also served as chairman of the events, training and membership committees.
In addition, the TIA Board of Directors elected Mike Wolfe as its new board treasurer. He will begin his three-year term on November 3, 2014.
Mr. Wolfe started his career in the tire business in 1978 working at his family’s business and then worked at various companies in the industry before starting Southeastern Wholesale Tire in 1994 where he is currently the Owner/Operator. Southeastern Wholesale Tire, with locations in Raleigh and Greenville, NC, specializes in specialty tires such as large farm, industrial, and OTR tires. He has served on the TIA board for seven years. Mr. Wolf is active on the membership, strategic planning and finance, and government affairs committees. In addition, he was president of the North Carolina Tire Dealers Association (NCTDA) in 2004-2005 and has served on their board for the past 15 years.
