BOWIE, Md. – Buoyed by the success of the first Retail Tire Store Leadership training course in October, the Tire Industry Association (TIA) and training company MOHR Retail have scheduled a second class for January 2021.
The Retail Tire Store Leadership training course focuses on helping retail tire store managers, assistant managers and leads develop the interpersonal and leadership skills needed to help retain and engage their teams and enhance tire store productivity by delivering exceptional performance and customer service.
“The participants who attended the inaugural leadership training class gave it strong positive reviews,” said TIA President Dan Nothdurft. “TIA is excited to offer this class once again as a means of helping our members and the retail tire industry at large with training that can significantly impact tire dealership performance.”
The Retail Tire Store Leadership course in January will be taught via eight virtual Zoom meetings over four weeks, with classes held on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting Jan. 12 and ending Feb. 4. The two-hour classes will run from 10 a.m. to noon (EST). Coursework will cover four modules: Foundations: Role of the Leader; Setting Performance Expectations; Improving Below-Standard Performance; and Effective Floor Supervision – Coaching in Real-Time.
Cost is $750 per student. Class size is limited to 16 and a minimum of nine. Students must attend all eight sessions and do the pre-work to receive a completion certificate.
“The coursework includes in-class practice and open discussions combined with technology-based microlearning based on the modern retail tire store environment,” said Glen Nicholson, a former automotive service technician, tire store manager and past senior director of retail training for TBC Corp., who will teach the course. “This aids in long-term retention and application of the material.”
